Shoyu Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recipe:

Makes about two dozen 2.5” cookies

Cooking during the holidays is a wonderful time to enjoy familiar treats and explore your creativity in the kitchen.

In this version of the classic chocolate chip cookie, I’ve made them a bit extra by adding a touch of shoyu for that salted caramel note.

Pre heat oven to 375°F

Mix 1 cup all purpose flour with 1 t spoon of baking soda in a bowl.

In a stand mixer, cream 1 stick of softened butter, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Add 1 egg, 2 t of vanilla extract, 1/4 T salt, and 2 t of @moromishoyu. Mix together for a minute then add in the flour mixture until we’ll blended. Mix in 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips and mix well.

Grease a baking sheet and drop spoonfuls of the cookie mix onto the sheet about 2” apart.

Bake in the oven for 8 - 12 minutes (depending on your oven so watch it closely at the 8 minute mark).

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool for a couple minutes before removing them from the baking sheet. Cool the cookies on a wire rack and store them in your cookie jar or favorite storage container.

Enjoy!
