Delicious tofu bacon!

Ingredients:

  • 150g firm tofu cut into 6 x 1/4” slices

  • Seasoning sauce:

  • 1/4 t msg

  • 1/2 t sesame oil

  • 2 t @moromishoyu

  • 1 t rice vinegar

  • 1t brown sugar

Recipe:

Mix seasoning ingredients in a small bowl.

Slice tofu into six 1/4” slices. Place a double layer of paper towel on a cutting board and lay out the tofu on top to absorb the moisture. Place another double layer of paper towel on top of the tofu. Press the tofu under a cast iron griddle or skillet to remove the liquid. Press for about 1/2 hour. Remove the weight and towel and sprinkle with a pinch of salt on each side. (This is less than 1/8t of salt for all six pieces).

Heat 2T oil in a skillet over high heat until just shimmering. Add the tofu slices and lightly brown. About 4 minutes/side. Remove to a plate lined with a paper towel. Drain excess oil from the skillet and return the tofu to the pan over medium heat. Drizzle 1/2 the seasoning sauce over each slice, turn the tofu and drizzle the remaining sauce over the slices. Continue heating and turning the tofu frequently until well browned. Remove the slices to a plate and serve.

Enjoy!
